Biography

For over two decades Congresswoman Anna Eshoo has been a consumer advocate, champion of technological innovation, preservationist and health care pioneer on behalf of her constituents. As Ranking Member of the Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Communications and Technology, Anna has had a hand in shaping communications policy for the 21st Century. In that capacity she has been Congress’ leading voice to maintain Net Neutrality and a free, open and accessible Internet.

Anna also served on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, where she chaired the Subcommittee on Intelligence Community Management which focuses on challenges affecting all 16 agencies comprising the nation’s intelligence community. Anna worked to improve Congressional oversight of the intelligence community and to protect national security and civil liberties.

Presidents Clinton, Bush and Obama collectively signed more than thirty of Anna’s bills into law.

Honors, awards and recognitions for Anna are many and varied.

They include the Congressional Champion of Hope Award from the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, The Science Coalition’s Champion of Science, the Spirit of Innovation Award from the Telecommunications Industry Association and the Lifetime Achievement Honoree and Spirit of Silicon Valley Award from the Silicon Valley leadership Group.

Anna has received a 100% score from the League of Conservation Voters and she has been endorsed by the Sierra Club, the National Women’s Political Caucus and the California School Employees Association and many others.

What financing method(s) would you support to repair or improve roads, rails, ports, airports, the electrical grid and other infrastructure in the U.S.?
Answer from Anna G. Eshoo:

I support the use of federal dollars for infrastructure projects in the United States. I support an infrastructure bank to leverage federal dollars with states and local municipalities. 

What programs or legislation, if any, would you support to help Americans of all ages secure affordable health care?
Answer from Anna G. Eshoo:

I support Medicare for all and allowing the federal government to negotiate the price of drugs to lower their costs for everyone. 

Describe an immigration policy that you would support if presented to the House.
Answer from Anna G. Eshoo:

I support comprehensive immigration reform that provides a timely pathway to citizenship for our undocumented community, modernizeing our visa programs, and providing humanitarian relief for those fleeing violence. 

What programs or legislation would you support to meet the water needs of Californians and the federal water project infrastructure in California?
Answer from Anna G. Eshoo:

I support protecting our water sources, innovative technology to manage safe water levels, and financing projects to ensure our drinking water is clean and safe. 

According to a "Civility In America” survey, 75% of Americans believe that the U.S. has a major civility problem. If you are elected what will do to address this?
Answer from Anna G. Eshoo:

Incivility, ideological polarization and the partisan divide between Congress and the White House make progress difficult in Washington. As your Congresswoman, I find ways around gridlock to advance our values, solve problems, and take care of people.
