As a career public school teacher of the El Monte community, a mother, wife, resident of the El Monte community, former policy analyst, and current City Planning Commissioner, Ms. Morales is proud of the work accomplished on behalf of our community families and children. Currently, as a teacher and researcher, her focus remains to develop community, civic engagement, and academic partnerships to create a foundation where El Monte children can thrive academically, and residents can have access to high-paying, local jobs. Currently, as a Co-Chair of the City of El Monte Planning Commission, Ms. Morales is part of overseeing the El Monte one billion dollar economic development, advocating for preserving greener spaces in the community allowing opportunities for children and families to have access to greener environments.
During graduate school, Ms. Morales was selected to participate a research study with the California Legislative Analyst’s office focused on addressing state homelessness. In addition, as a policy analyst for the Government Accountability Office, the audit, evaluation, and investigative arm of the United States Congress, Ms. Morales was advocate for safe-guarding finances, fiscal responsibility and accountability in government. Her work at the GAO resulted in improving and ensuring the accountability of the federal government on behalf of the American people.
A graduate of the University of Southern California (USC), Ms. Morales received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. Ms. Morales is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree from USC focused on Education equity and access. Ms. Morales grew up in the Salinas Valley and is one of the eldest children of six, of immigrant-farm-working parents. She is married to Jorge Morales, a life-long resident and high school administrator of El Monte, and mother to Aaron Josue Morales.
