Experience

Biography

I have been a mountain resident most of my adult life.  I graduated from Rim of the World High School.  I lived in Wrightwood for over 20 years and retired to Big Bear in 2008.  I understand the needs and priorities of mountain residents.

I worked for the San Bernardino County Probation Department for 33 years, starting as a Probation Officer Trainee in 1970 and retiring as a Deputy Chief in 2004.  After receiving my Master's Degree in 1990, I taught Criminal Justice at the California State University at San Bernardino for 26 years.

Following my retirement from Probation, I volunteered as a Commissioner for the County Juvenile Justice Commission.  I served for 10 years but resigned my position in order to accept the appointment to the Big Bear Airport District Board (a conflict of meeting schedules).  I have served on the Board for the past 17 months and believe that I have been a stabilizing influence on a Board that has endured too much conflict in the past.

My interest in aviation started with my earliest childhood memories and has never faded.  I have been a private pilot for 52 years.  I have restored two historic aircraft and am working on a third. I currently fly a 1946 Piper Cub.

My goal on the Board is simply to advance general aviation activities at our airport in every way that will benefit the future of the airport and is consistent with the needs and wishes of the people of our community.
