Biography

Councilman, District 1, Paul A. Rodríguez, Ed.D.

My family roots go back over 100 years. My grandparents raised their 12 children here and started a business where they provided pipes to the local dairies, agricultural farms, and the water system of the City of Chino. All my uncles were veterans of World War II and returned to raise their families here.

I have lived in Chino my entire life. At the age of 10, I began playing the organ for St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.  My wife Doreen and I, both retired educators have raised our 5 children here.  I was a former counselor at Don Lugo High School and teacher at EJ Marshall for many years.

Serving on the Council last year has given me enormous experience. I have worked as a liaison to Chino Valley USD, Chino Cultural Foundation, SCAG (Southern California Association in Governments, represents 19.8 million residents), Community Economics and Human Development at-large panel member and city budget review.

I plan to serve you with honesty, integrity and transparency.  My vision is to invest and take care of our seniors, veterans, families and our youth.

With your vote, I will support public safety and smart responsible development that only helps our community, local economy, and creating good jobs.

Thank you and God Bless.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

Chino has been home to my family for five generations and God willing will be for many
more. That is why I have been so honored to serve the City of Chino and wish to continue to
help shape a bright future for our great city while honoring its heritage. I have been and will
continue to be a champion in our community for two of our most important groups the older
residents of Chino and our youth. Both of these groups face special challenges and need our
help. Our older residents need vital services and the ability to find a reasonably-priced place
to live so they, like me, can stay close to their families, friends and institutions they hold dear
such as their churches and community groups. The youth of our community now more than
ever need education and job training services that can offer career pathways and an
opportunity at a good living that will allow them to grow, thrive and be vital participants in
our community for years to come.
I am committed to maintaining the quality of our schools, youth programs, senior centers,
healthy and safe parks and recreational opportunities, vital infrastructure like water, power
and roads and finally our high standard of quality living. We must also tackle challenges head
on like traffic and the high price of housing. Together with your support and that of the local
firefighters, police and business we will guide Chino into a bright future.
As your first district councilman I pledge to:
Work to solve our local traffic issues
Ensure public safety remains a top priority
Maintain a balanced, prudent city budget and maintain fiscal responsibility
Provide quality housing for our senior citizens and working families
Protect the character and values of our city and its residents
I will continue to be responsive, transparent and accountable.
I am pleased to be endorsed and supported by a variety of elected officials both left and right
and to have the support of our local police and firefighters.
Thank you in advance for your support and God Bless you, your family and friends, Chino and
God Bless the United States of America
