My Top 3 Priorities

  • Observe enrollment patterns that occurred during the years 2000-2010 to discover the student behaviors and characteristics during that period. Enrollment remained at an all-time high during this ten year period!
  • Make sure that all Demographics are being equally targetted to include but not limited to; students who are in these categories: minority, those with learning challenges, first-generation college students, low-income, and adult students.
  • Enhance and Encourage Student Life and Community Involvement (Student Life through the eyes of the student).

Biography

I want to take a moment and introduce myself to the community members of Barstow, CA and the surrounding areas of the High Desert in the Barstow Community College District. My name is Vanessa Pack, I am 39 years old, and I am a graduate and alumni of Barstow Community College.

It's Official! I am running for the Barstow Community College Governing Board. I am passionate about running for the Barstow Community College Board due to the fact; Barstow Community College successfully laid a solid foundation for my educational endeavors and has helped myself and our family to achieve far greater success than we could have ever imagined before  I became a student at BCC. I want others to know that their goals and dreams are possible by just applying to become a student at Barstow Community College and then completing their chosen educational career path and following their ED-Plan. While attending Barstow Community College, I served as the Barstow Community College ASB President 2003-04. BCC paved the way to me receiving my A.A. and A.S. It was through the Barstow Community College Transfer Center I chose to transfer to the University of LaVerne to obtain my B.A. in Liberal Studies and from there transferred to Jones International University where I graduated with Honors and a Masters Degree in Adult Education and Administration. These achievements have helped my family found two critical charities the Ayden Rae Foundation and Communities Uniting as well as a small business directory that supports small businesses worldwide www.BuyRite.Directory while also supporting our critical charities and helping us save lives. When I was a little girl, I wanted to be an educator, and this is one way for me to give back to my community and help others know that they too can chase their dreams through higher education.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

My political background began at Barstow Community College where I enjoyed serving as ASB President at Barstow Community College in 2003-04. Later, I proudly served as a School Board Member for a local High Desert Charter School; Taylion High Desert Academy during the 2014 school year. The Taylion High Desert Academy Board laid the foundation for all of the California Taylion Academy Charters. I presently sit on the board of the Ayden Rae Foundation and Communities Uniting.

I am running for the Barstow Community College Governing Board to foster and promote positive change at Barstow Community College by procuring a seat on Barstow Community College’s Governing Board. With this seat, I will collaborate with like-minded board members, and together we will influence many of these positive changes. These changes will improve and extend the life of Barstow Community College while enhancing community involvement. All these achievements we can do as the Barstow Community College Governing Board with community support and student involvement.
