Biography

Growing up in East LA and graduating from Garfield High School class of 1970, Montebello has been my home for over 40 years. My wife Carmel and I have formed many life lasting friendships and created some beautiful memories while raising our daughter, Monique, in this city. Over the decades we have witnessed Montebello’s growth and we have also witnessed its struggles. My motivation for running for City Treasurer comes from my desire to see Montebello prosper so that future generations can raise their families here and create their own memories to cherish for a lifetime.

My experience working as a Senior Tax Compliance Representative at the office of Employment Development Department of the State of California, will allow me to advocate for the increased transparency of city policies. Over the 20 years of experience as a union activist I have worked with SEIU 1000 and the LA County Federation of Labor holding positions at the local level as president, vice president, Stewart, bargaining representative and delegate, as well as working the campaign trail in the 2016 primary and general election for Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. This experience has given me the knowledge and appreciation for the need to hold government officials accountable for their actions.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

The City of Montebello needs a City Treasurer that will continue to advocate for the best interest of the residents, a Treasurer that

will challenge and work with the City Council to find a budget that takes into account current and projected expenses and revenue

while being held accountable for accuracy and due diligence.

For a better Montebello, Over the years, the City of Montebello has seen an increase in criminal activity, homelessness, while the

residents have seen an increase in the cost of waste disposal, increase in the cost of emergency service and a threatened water

supply. We need solutions that will ensure the safety of our residents, to preserve our communities and to attract and retain

business allowing our local economy to flourish.

I believe that through increased accountability and transparency from elected city officials along with continuous community

support we can propel Montebello into a new era of prosperity.propel Montebello into a new era of prosperity.opel Montebello into a new era of prosperity.
