Biography

Andre Quintero was elected to serve his hometown as Mayor of El Monte in November 2009 and was re-elected in 2011, 2013 and 2015. He previously served two terms on the Board of Trustees of the Rio Hondo Community College District.

As Mayor, Andre has advocated for more transparency in government decision making, worked to eliminate waste at City Hall, and helped establish the city’s ad hoc committee on Budget, Audit and Cost Control to make better financial decisions. Despite the difficult economic times, Andre has worked to maintain funding for public safety, protect front line services that El Monte families rely on and usher in 1 billion dollars in economic development activity. Under his leadership, crime is down, new jobs are coming and El Monte has made critical investments in public projects.

Andre currently works for the City Attorney of Los Angeles as a Prosecutor in the Central Trials Criminal Branch. He grew up in El Monte and graduated from Arroyo High School. He earned a degree in Political Science from the University of California, Riverside, where he served as Student Body President and also served as President of the statewide U.C. Student Association. He earned his Law Degree and Masters in Urban Planning from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Andre is married to Deborah Quintero and father to Emma Olivia Quintero.l Monte.
