My Top 3 Priorities

  • Safety First: We need to increase staffing immediately; We are at the same levels at 25 years ago.
  • Neighborhoods First: I will ensure that neighborhoods are protected by the problems created by Levi's Stadium and the University.
  • Financial Accountability: We need to stop spending general fund money at Levi's Stadium and have the 49ers pay more for public safety.

Biography

I have been at the Santa Clara Police Department for 25 years.  I have lived in Santa Clara for 24 years.  I moved to Santa Clara as a new officer because I wanted to be a part of the community I was protecting.  I have made Santa Clara my home.  My wife and I live in the Old Quad area, and our children attended the local public schools.  During my tenure at the Police Department, I have worked in every division, including patrol, investigations and community services.  I was also the Police Association President for 14 years, giving me valuable management experience.  I have been a leader the entire time I have been in the Police Department, regardless of my rank or position.  A leader needs to be willing to make a difference, and a vision on how to move forward.  I am running for Police Chief to make the department better for the residents of Santa Clara.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

I believe that as an elected position, the Police Chief should answer to no one but the residents of Santa Clara.  I am running to ensure that the safety of Santa Clara residents comes before any other interests.  I will work collaboratively with the residents to make sure that the negative effects of Levi's Stadium are mitigated.  I will work with residents of the Old Quad neighborhood and the Santa Clara University administration to hold students accountable for off conduct behavior.  I will ensure that we are enforcing traffic regulations in residential neighborhoods and near schools.  I will increase staffing to ensure that we have a proactive department that works to reduce residential and auto burglaries.
