Biography

Daniel Snyder

I have lived in Los Gatos for the over 16 years, and have two daughters who attend Los Gatos schools, Elizabeth and Allison.

I grew up in a small town outside Chicago, and graduated from Williams College with a degree in economics.  After college I worked in commercial banking for Bank of America, working with Fortune 1000 companies on financing strategies.  I then earned my MBA from the Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University) in Marketing and Strategy.  I spent the following years as a management consultant for Mercer Management Consulting, working with companies like Harley Davidson, Ford Motor Co., and Constellation Brands to develop and expand growth opportunities.  I left consulting to work in the finance department of Classified Ventures (cars.com), where I rose to the VP of Finance, and helping to raise over $400 million in private equity.

I continued to work in high tech finance until becoming a partner in a small private equity partnership, which has allowed me to have the flexibility to be at home and commit a significant portion of my time to volunteering in support of our Los Gatos schools.  I served as Treasurer and President (2 years) of the Los Gatos Education Foundation, raising over $2.5 million.  We funded music, art and science teachers, and provided computers for every 5th and 6th grade student.  I have been on LGUSD’s Financial Advisory Committee for 8 years, and as Chairman the last 4, creating the district’s Technology Sustainability Plan, which enabled 1:1 student devices for 3rd-8th grade.  I have served on the Parcel Tax Oversight Committee for 5 years; ensuring public funds are spent according to voter approved ballot measures. I serve on both the Daves Ave Elementary and Fisher Middle School Site Councils. I have been a Room Parent 9 times, and volunteer in classrooms every week.  In 2012, the District’s Principals chose me as the LGUSD Volunteer of the Year.  I also serve on the Town of Los Gatos’ Transportation and Parking Commission, and am the Treasurer of the Los Gatos Rotary Club.
