My Top 3 Priorities

  • Improve engagement of kids and families. Children need to feel welcome in school, encouraged, and provided help when they struggle. These actions are paramount to keeping kids in school and helping them succeed.
  • Pay competitive wages to attract and retain teachers. Nothing has a greater impact on a child’s learning than the quality of classroom instruction. Nothing impacts that quality more than great teachers.
  • Apply urgency, intellect and creativity to the inequity in opportunity for low-income children and children of color. This inequity continues to drag down academic performance scores and requires quick and competent action.
