My Top 3 Priorities

  • Increase enrollment and provide a clear path for students’ success to go from High School to a Bachelor’s degree using the “College Promise” program by providing the first term free and extending my team’s free tuition for High School students
  • Cyber-security- I will work to stop unauthorized access to student accounts. I will also advocate for an “opt in” option before accounts with other institutions are opened without permission Wells Fargo style.
  • I will put the community back in “Community College” developing programs for students without degree goals. Such as programs for training in cutting-edge software for job advancement or programs for personal enrichment building a vested community.

Biography

I’ve been a neighbor to the Foothill Campus for 48 years and have volunteered for many campus activities including 20 years with the “Foothill Music Theater” one of the leading funder-raisers for the District.

I’ve served on many college committees including Foothill scholarship committee, district safety committee, “Equal Opportunity” representative on several hiring committees, and as Honorary Marshall for Commencement.

I’m one of the founders and was the supervisor of Foothill College’s Student Success Center for over 13 years.  This was a “one stop shop” computer lab where students would receive assistance getting help with enrollment, financial aid and other college resources for which they were entitled.  I became expert in California education code title 5 as I collaborated with staff, faculty, managers, and programmers on the initial team setting up the district database and online class systems. I have a BS in Chemistry with Biology emphasis from San Jose State University.

As a grant supervisor in the Foothill College Office of Economic Development I became proficient in college funding.

Hi,   my name is Eric Rosenthal and I’m a candidate for the board of trustees for the Foothill-De Anza Community College District.   Thank you for listening.   If elected I’ll STOP the distribution of taxpayer and student data without permission. See www.eric4trustee.com for information.   I will eliminate duplicated departments between campuses to save costs.   I will duplicate the “Long Beach Promise” providing a clear almost cost free path for students to go from High School to a Bachelor’s degree.   I will put the “community” back in Community College developing programs for students without degree goals.   As Foothill-De Anza enters the cyber-age with online and hybrid classes I’m the most qualified to provide leadership .
