Experience

Biography

My name is Cori Schumacher and I am a candidate for Carlsbad City Council.

As a California native, I have lived in North County San Diego for the past 28 years and in Carlsbad for the last 10.

While I am most widely known as a 3-time world-champion surfer, over the last 10 years I have redirected my energy, focus and efforts into effecting global change through activism.

As Executive Director of The Inspire Initiative, I have acted on everything from human rights issues in China, sexism in worldwide marketing, environmental issues along the Southern California Coast, human genocide in West Papua, and my most recent campaign in our own backyard: "No on Measure A."

I am currently running for Carlsbad City Council in November, 2016, on the platform of transparency in government, responsible land use, sustainability and respecting the will and diverse voices of the people of Carlsbad.

I look forward to being of service to all of our Carlsbad residents.
