My Top 3 Priorities

  • Partnering with the community to develop housing at all levels of the spectrum for those living in our community and those relocating here.
  • Continue working to reduce traffic congestion and improve road conditions.
  • Continue to promote economic vitality and job growth

Profession:Council Member and Non-Profit Director
Council Member, Santa Rosa City Council — Elected position (2008–current)
Police Lieutenant, City of Santa Rosa (1979–2008)

Community Activities

Advisory Board, LifeWorks of Sonoma County (2014–current)

Councilmember; Executive Director, California Cities Violence Prevention Network

I am committed to the total well-being of all our citizens.  Currently, I represent you on Santa Rosa Downtown Subcommittee, Sonoma County Health Action Committee, City Council Subcommittee on Homeless Policy, Santa Rosa Violence Prevention Partnership, California League of Cities Public Safety Committee and City Council Medical Cannabis subcommittee.

During my term as your Mayor, I established the Mayor’s Economic Competitiveness Task Force and Mayor’s Pension Reform Task Force. As a result, we brought thousands of jobs to Santa Rosa and passed the most meaningful pension reform for the first time in Santa Rosa’s history.  The Santa Rosa Violence Prevention Partnership (formally Mayor’s Gang Prevention Task Force) continues to be a national model for crime prevention and youth development.

My record shows I am a strong proponent of transparency and openness in governing our city. I take pride in the fact that I engage stakeholders, work to find creative solutions to difficult issues, and implement those solutions for significant changes. Please be assured I will continue to address critical issues.

For our community, I serve on Luther Burbank Center for the Arts Board of Directors, Elsie Allen High School Foundation and Boys and Girls Club of Central Sonoma County Advisory Board.

As the Executive Director of the California Cities Violence Prevention Network, I am dedicate to helping communities develop and implement community-wide violence prevention plans that blend prevention, intervention, enforcement, and reentry strategies.

Working together, we will continue to make Santa Rosa the place we are proud to call our home.

I respectfully ask for your vote.
